"Fantastic Mr. Fox"

I finally finished reading the book "Fantastic Mr. Fox" yesterday. My first impression after reading it was that beside the fact that Mr. Fox is a good husband and father, very intelligent and generous, he is actually NOT that fantastic, especially in the way he uses his love for his family-- to save them from starvation--to justify his stealing action. He also tries to make stealing sound less sinful than murder (but is it really?). I remember when Badger questions Mr. Fox action/ moral, I thought, "Yay! Finally! There is someone who still has a conscience!" But if you have read the book (or know the story), you will remember instead of rebuking Mr. Fox, Badger COMPROMISES to his friend's disguised righteousness! (Although I can understand this disappointing response is necessary for the story to move forward, still...) And the ending isn't a truly happy one either because none of the character has changed/ grown. *sigh*

Anyways, I think I should stop criticizing the story and start sharing my drawing of the day.

So here is my attempt to capture the moment when Mr. Fox and his four children reach Boggis' Chicken House Number One after some serious digging.
I think this drawing has failed in many ways but I can't work on it anymore... I will do better next time.
